Things to do in the Arun District this summer
As the beautiful heritage and coastal towns of Sussex by the Sea spring into summer, now is the perfect time to think about how you want to spend those long, sunny days! Here are just a few things you can get up to across the Arun District over your bank holiday weekend, half-term and summer holidays.
Glorious Gardens
With so many beautiful garden attractions located across the Arun District, you won’t be short on choice.
Experience the thousands of alliums in early summer, plus many other seasonal flowers, bursting up all over the grounds of Arundel Castle and its historic gardens.
Wander through the flourishing contemporary gardens of Denman’s, or discover the unique wooden sculptures, and more, in Hotham Park, Bognor Regis.
There’s an abundance of greenspaces in Arundel, Bognor Regis and Littlehampton for you to visit whilst soaking up the sun!
Coastal Bliss
Enjoy sweeping views of Sussex by the Sea and its family-friendly beaches, stretching from the pebble and sand beach of Littlehampton, over the River Arun to West Beach and Climping, to the shoreline of Bognor Regis.
Refresh your mind with the pockets of peace found in Middleton-on-sea, Elmer, Aldwick and Pagham Harbour, plus East Preston and Rustington too.
Offering plenty of places to eat, stay and play across all locations, a coastal trip is a must this summer and they’re all a metaphorical stone’s throw away from each other!
Outdoor Activities
As well as exploring and enjoying our great Seaside Award winning beaches, nature reserves, parks and countryside, there’s oodles of outdoor activities you can take part in, or enjoy as a spectator. Immerse yourself in great British culture with our array of historic towns and villages. Stroll through the market town of Arundel, taking in the sights and sounds of quaint coffee shops and independent boutiques. Take a self-guided trail around the town or book a guided tour.
Learn about the heritage of Littlehampton, once a small Saxon settlement by the mouth of the river Arun, with Littlehampton Museum displaying fascinating collections, or travel back in time to vintage Bognor Regis with the Bognor Regis Museum and Bognor Regis heritage trails: make your own seaside memories in another Saxon settlement with many Royal connections.
