Things To Do in May and June

May Day Bank Holiday is the second long weekend holiday of 2023, swiftly followed by another in this special Coronation year and yet another at the end of May. 

 

To make the most of these opportunities, we happily share below some highlights of the many organised events during May and June 2023 in Sussex by the Sea (the Arun District of West Sussex) and encourage you to click the links to our town destination websites to see more information about these and many more events in each town and their neighbouring villages.

In Arundel, you can share Arundel Museum's anniversary celebrations, the official launch of the Arundel Arts Festival (the main event is in late August) and don't forget the tremendous tulip festival, swiftly followed by the amazing allium festival in the spectacular Arundel Castle Gardens. Plus, the wonderful bluebell woods in and around Arundel add to the seasonal attractions.

 

In Bognor Regis, there are plenty of outdoor events too, including the Bognor Prom 10k Road Race, Proms in the Park, Bognor Regis Carnival, Mudlarks & Crafts at Pagham Harbour and a Sunday afternoon Bandstand Concert too.


In Littlehampton the choice ranges from a Wing and Windsurf Festival and Big Beach Skate Jam, Bowling Club Open Day, Armed Forces Day, and ‘Royal Littlehampton’, ‘Archive Art’ and ‘Romans’ exhibitions at Littlehampton Museum. 

The beautiful locations in and around the Arun district are dressed in their finest to entice you to witness the miracles of nature as new life appears everywhere. The gardens, riverside, beach and coast, countryside and ever present South Downs, the big skies, harbours and wildlife friendly parks and attractions offer lots of opportunities to top up on fresh air, vitamin D and 'vitamin sea' too.


And don't forget to celebrate Sussex Day on the 16th of June! This annual celebration of all things Sussex is centred on the Feast Day of St Richard who was a remarkable Bishop of Chichester in the 13th century. Find out more at Chichester Cathedral, the ‘Mother Church’ of Sussex, and look out for the blue and gold colours of the Sussex Day flag flying proudly across the county, why not share your pictures with our Social Media Channels, with a chance of becoming our ‘pic of the month’.

Whatever the weather or season, you'll find family friendly fun on and around the sand and shingle beaches of Littlehampton and Bognor Regis. There are plenty of activities within a pebble’s throw of the beach, with seaside parks and greens, organised events in peak seasons, great food and drink options as well as town centres and transport links within walking distance.
