Support for local businesses within the Arun District

Sussex by the Sea is the Arun District Council tourism ‘brand’ which promotes the  district and helps support local hospitality businesses, with key aims to encourage visitors near and far to visit more, stay longer and support the local visitor economy.

Delivered and managed by the Business and Economy Team at Arun District Council, we are passionate about supporting our local businesses and their valued staff who live and work locally and who all help make our towns and attractions great places to live, work and visit.

How do we support local businesses?

With so many wonderful tourism and hospitality businesses the visitor economy is a key sector for the district. If you own or work for such a business, take a look at our Tourism business support page, see what we can offer and how you can access latest business news and opportunities for your business.

As ‘Sussex by the Sea’ we share news and events on our social platforms and digital channels, as published by our town and neighbouring partner destinations, local attractions, accommodation and activities. We have a loyal community of over 12,000 followers on our social media channels and regularly share latest news and inspiration, direct from local visitor economy businesses to the district’s potential visitors.

SOCIAL MEDIA Local businesses, please do ‘like and follow’ your local tourism destinations so that we can follow you back! You’ll find all the links you need for our channels (and those of our partners) at: sussexbythesea.com/contact

Arun District Council also offer free strategic support and advice for local businesses from all sectors. Take a look at the Business development and support page, which forms just one element of the Business and licensing section on the arun.gov.uk website.

Another great benefit delivered by the Business and Economy Team is the Arun Business Partnership, formed in 1997 to support local business and encourage business collaboration and keep vital funds in the local economy. This free business support service offers networking, information and advice as well as useful contacts and signposting, not to mention their prestigious awards that support and recognise the efforts of local businesses and the contribution that they make to our local community and beyond. Click on the website link and get in touch with Miriam to find out more.

Whilst the global economic environment remains uncertain, we have full confidence in our local business network and the opportunities that 2023 brings to business growth across the Arun District. From successful businesses and award winning beaches to internationally recognised attractions, eateries and accommodation, we really do have it all and can’t wait to work with and support you in the year ahead!
