Did You Know? The history of the Bonfire Processions in Sussex?

The whole County of Sussex is steeped in bonfire history, dating back to the burning of protestant martyrs in Lewes during Tudor times.

Local traditions go back even further with face painted workers in disguise, annually visiting households door to door for food and alcohol.

There are several Bonfire Societies throughout Sussex, (including of course Littlehampton) each organising their local Procession and Firework Displays throughout the Autumn and early winter. See more information at Wikipedia
